Flying the unfriendly skies: Stingy Airlines

With more airlines introducing fees like JetBlue’s buy-you-own-pillow, US Air’s buy-you-own-soda, and endless excess baggage and change fees, it’s tough to compare true flight costs.  While a listing on Orbitz for flights going from BOS to LAX may all be in a similar price range, each airline may have extra fees not listed that will impact the overall cost of your flight. Time.com recently researched fees at the major airlines to see who’s the stingiest.  Check out its list here to help you decide which airline to fly. Southwest Airlines comes up on top (or rather, at the bottom) for being the least stingy – at least for now.

A colleague of mine just flew first class on a Delta domestic flight. The only apparent differences between first and coach were more leg room and unlimited beverages. Same crackers in all classes, and no meal. If even the first class passengers can’t get more than a packet of crackers, what’s next for those of us who hoof it in coach?

I heard that SouthWest bought oil futures some time ago so now that the oil prices are rising they have made tons of money and locked in older prices. I guess that is why they can still cut a small break to us little people!
