I'm not sure why but I never grew up eating omelets. It was only when I struck out on my own that I discovered how much I like these, and that I prefer them to scrambled eggs. I usually just throw one together with green peppers, mushroom, onions, and cheese and sometimes enjoy them for dinner. Looks like I may have to kick it up a notch though and try the recipe for a Mediterranean supper omelet below. On a side note, I wanted to digress a bit and talk about olives and since they are a part … [Read more...]

Taking to the road in Europe
I'm in the midst of planning my honeymoon to Venice and Croatia. Early on in the planning process, I struggled to find a cost and time effective way of getting between the two countries. So I decided on an option we have not yet tackled in Europe...driving! Oh who am I kidding? My guy will be behind the wheel since I hate to drive but my role of lead navigator will be an important one of course. We have driven before on vacation while in St. Martin. But since it takes a little over an … [Read more...]
Car Seats on Planes
{a guest post by my BFF, who has two very active munchkins} When Chickadee was only 4 months old I flew across the US with him on my lap and he was no problem at all. But now at 17 months old I am not sure how his Wiggly-Highness is going to stay in my lap for even the takeoff and landing let alone the whole flight. So in preparation for the trip I decided to do some research on airplanes and car seats and thought I would pass on the info to the wondering minds out there. What I found … [Read more...]
Foodie Fridays: Grilled Chicken Breasts with North African Spice Paste
Using the same chicken marinade can get boring for your taste buds after a while. I recently found this recipe below for Grilled Chicken Breasts with North African Spice Paste. Although it sounds a bit spicy to me, I’m sure my guy would enjoy this meal and of course I can alter the amount of chilies to my taste. This paste is also delicious with pork and the spice paste keeps for up to a week. Ingredients 8 (2-inch-long) dried hot red chilies 2 tablespoons coriander seeds 1 tablespoon cumin … [Read more...]
The Unglamorous Side of Globetrotting
My job has afforded me many opportunities to see parts of the world I may not have otherwise visited on my own. I'm grateful for this, although most trips have allowed me no time to see anything other than a hotel room, office, and the city zooming by from inside a taxi. They don't pay me to sightsee, so I suppose that's fair. Friends who haven't seen as much of the world as I have (or who have had to pay for it themselves) sometimes think that my globetrotting lifestyle is all glitz and … [Read more...]
What is European Style?
What exactly is European style, and why do so many American women covet it? I was happy to see an email from GAP promoting a limited edition "European Collection", but when I clicked through I honestly couldn't tell the difference between a regular GAP sweater and one from this new collection (see photo). As someone who visits major European cities many times during the year, I can tell you that this collection is not distinctly European. The clothes seem a bit shapeless and bland. In the … [Read more...]
Foodie Fridays: Ratatouille Tart
A while back, I posted a recipe for a salmon quiche. Recently, I came across this recipe for Ratatouille Tart in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette and thought great, another quiche recipe to try. As I looked closer, I wondered if a quiche and tart are two different things. I see no need for several eggs in the recipe below. Whatever you call it, it’s a yummy new recipe to add to my collection. And I’ve always wanted to make ratatouille (well after I saw the cute movie by the same name) … [Read more...]
