A Sleepy Weekend Update

It’s Monday night at 8pm and I’m falling asleep. Leaving the stadium last night after the U2 concert was a bit of a nightmare – it took 2.5 hours to simply exit the parking lot and I got home at 3:30am. Thus my creative energy is pretty much nonexistent.

In addition to going to the concert this weekend, we got a lot done around the house:

  • Installed a Moravian star ceiling light from Ballard Designs in our foyer. It had been sitting in a box since the week after we moved in, exactly a year ago. I didn’t like it at first because it uses a 40w chandelier bulb, which doesn’t seem to be enough light. It’s growing on me though.
  • Hung a large photo of Monaco (from this summer’s vacation) in the guest room.
  • Painted the bedside table and one of the Chinese room divider pieces that I bought at the Brimfield Antique Show.
  • Put two coats of paint on my Martha Washington sewing table out of an estimated three needed.
  • Decided we’re having a Halloween party and…
  • Made a pilgrimage to HomeGoods for more Halloween decorations.

None of this is quite photo-ready yet, but likely will be after another weekend of work. In the meantime, please enjoy this little pick-me-up of a room from this Sunday’s Boston Globe Magazine:

I so wish more photos from this article were online, because the rooms are fantastic – and I’m not really an orange person. If I wake up a bit this week I’ll scan some more for you.

If you’re a Boston blogger, I hope to see you on Wednesday evening at Masa in the South End for a little blogger event coordinated by Everything LEB and Sabbe Spot.

  1. Oh my gosh – 3:30am is very, very late. I bet the concert was worth it though! I can’t wait to see pictures of all your projects.

Sounds like you had a very productive weekend around the house! Once the initial push of moving was behind us, I’ve barely mustered the energy to hang a single picture during the course of a weekend….

And I have NO IDEA how you managed to drag yourself into work after such a late night….also, why do concerts have to be on Sunday nights or weeknights?!?
