Quick Poll: Mix white and cream lighting?

Quick poll for you all, concerning my master bedroom.

I detest the ceiling light, and it’s got loads of siblings throughout the house that I am dying to replace. Notice that the shades of the bedside lamps are cream, as are the curtains, and all the wood trim. The border on our winter bedding (above) is white and our summer bedding is white (but not stark).

Would a chandelier or pendant with a white shade look odd?

Feel free to comment with your preference on the above light fixtures, or recommend another one!

I think a few of the relatives are living in my house too!

I gave you an award on my blog today. Hope you’ll stop by to pick it up. Don’t forget your acceptance speech!

You’ll be looking at it against the ceiling, which I presume is white, right? Thus, my vote is for white. It’s too far from everything else to really matter much in terms of clashing or matching, but I’m imagining the cream shade against the white ceeling will look dingy.

I think white would be lovely — and between the two fixtures, I’d go for number two!

I would definatelly recommend the first shade, prefferably in white too. The second one is too bulky and will match the nightstand lamps too much to the point that it will blend in. The first one however, matches very nicelly, has the same kinds of angles and style, but it is a bit more softer and spread out; that one for sure.
Also, have you thought about adding molding at the top? It would look sooo good and complete the well, make the walls pop too.

I vote for the second one, sans the chain. I think you could go even bigger with the shade for a more dramatic effect (and to balance the size of the bed).

Can I just say that I love that shade of blue? I’d also love to see a picture of that rug on the side of your bed. It looks like it goes beautifully…

p.s. If it were me, I’d got white with the shade, but I think cream could work, too. I also thing the frames might be nice as a darker, substantial wood versus metal. Not that you asked! :) Can’t wait to see how it turns out!
