For the past few years I was out of the country on business during Halloween, which made me very sad. I love the holiday, despite hating horror movies and gory images. I prefer witches, vampires (especially if they’re hot), jack-o-lanterns, and Casper-like ghosts.
To celebrate being home for the holiday, we’re throwing a little bash, which will be littler than planned since so many of our friends have babies/toddlers and want to take them trick-or-treating in their own neighborhoods. For the few people who will actually make it, I want our house to look special. So I hit up Michael’s Crafts on Tuesday night to stock up on supplies. The good thing about waiting to shop until two weeks before Halloween is that nearly everything was on sale, including Martha Stewart crafts for 40% off.
I scored a pack of these paper chandeliers:
A Martha Stewart set of glitter and glue to make these:
A big pack of black card stock and a bat-shaped cookie cutter to make garland like this:
And these…
And these, too:
I also scored cheap candles to make these:
I bought a few other items too, like a cupcake stand and supplies to make spooky-glam votive holders (more on that later).
Now that I have all the supplies, I just need to carve out some time to carve our pumpkins and make all the decorations.
What spooky items are you adding to your home this Halloween?

The chandeliers are a great touch. Hope your party is fun. Is everyone going to come in costume?
I love the bats in the lamp! so fun!
Yay! I love these Martha Stewart Halloween crafts! Be sure to post plenty of party pics!
{Alas, I’ll be in out of town this Halloween — though in Miami celebrating with my niece and nephew — so I won’t be going full out on decorating this year.}
Ooh what fun fall decor! Thanks for the inspiration
I’ve never really decorated for Halloween but after seeing some of the spooky-awesome martha decor out there, I just might have to!!! Love the rats on the stairs!!!
Those bats are SO kill. Dig the chandeliers too! I’ll have to make sure Meg sees this post. : )
