A few more Halloween decorations
With Halloween right around the corner, in addition to the paper bat garland, I’ve pulled together a few quick crafts to make our living room a bit festive for having friends over to celebrate the holiday.
Spooky lights:
Paper bats left over from my garland project were taped to the inside of the lampshade. Putting tape on just the top of some of the bats creates a cool shadow effect.
Bloody candles:
I followed Martha’s instructions to make these, and lit a red candle and allowed the wax to drip down onto an inexpensive white candle. Unfortunately the red candle was so cheap that only the outer layer was red, so the “blood” isn’t as dark as I would like it to be.
Shimmery spiderweb candle holders:
Michael’s had a good sale on fall ribbons, so I picked up a few Halloween styles. This sheer, shimmery spiderweb wired ribbon is wrapped around short square vases leftover from our wedding, and taped in the back with double-sided scrapbooking tape. Inside are round votive holders that will hold tealights.
I have a few more things to do before Halloween arrives – hopefully it will all get done!

LOVE love love the bats. SO cute!
Bloody candles are so cool! I think I’m a little late for Halloween Decorating but I can make some DIY bats for my light fixtures!
Hope your party is fun!
I was going to do something like your bats in the lamps but just ran out of time- yours look very spooky, I love them!
