Yesterday’s girl’s nursery post caused a stir among my friends on Facebook, with many of them sharing old wives tales for how to tell whether there’s a boy or a girl in the belly. I think it’s a girl, but at first I thought it was a boy. I had a dream the other night that it was a boy. The Mr. thinks it’s a girl. Some say that the sicker you are, the more likely it is you’re having a girl because girl’s “steal the mother’s beauty.” Others claim that women are sicker when carrying boys because the hormones are so different from our own. I know plenty of women for whom both was not the case. We’ll just have to wait another 2.5 weeks to find out for sure.
I’ve had a very trouble-free pregnancy so far. During the first trimester I was nauseous to varying degrees but never threw up. My biggest symptom was extreme exhaustion, akin to mono (it’s improved). I don’t have any cravings or aversions. My bladder’s always seemed stupidly small, anyway, so nothing’s changed in that regard. I’m always a grouch when hungry, so that’s not different, either. My skin went beserk as soon as I went off the pill, and until actually getting knocked up it was extremely annoying to have teenager’s pizza face for no good reason. But even that hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would be. I know what you’re thinking if you’ve gone through this before: BITCH. That’s fine. It’ll all come back to bite me in the ass (or crotch) soon enough, I’m sure.
Anyway, back to another nursery design. As I mentioned yesterday, designing a mood board for a girl’s room was easy as pie, but I can’t say the same for a little boy. I’ve seen plenty of cute boy’s rooms both online and in friend’s homes, but particular products and loose themes haven’t really jumped out at me yet. What I’ve come up with so far is a bit more modern than the rest of our house, but I think I like it. As with the girl’s nursery, we’ll go with warm yellow walls. The exact shade will depend on the true colors of the bedding.
