According to my hubby and dad, my original nursery designs weren’t “childish” enough. This was somewhat intentional, because when Junior is a baby he won’t notice the aesthetics of the room the way that I will. I also wanted a nursery that would grow with him so that we wouldn’t have to spend a lot of money and time redecorating.
But I can’t ignore Dad’s and Mr. JC’s point, and might as well use it as an excuse to find some absurdly cute art for my munchkin’s room. After all, a travel theme room does not need to be limited to maps. Instead, I will incorporate various modes of transportation and animals of the world. Sort of a “where you can go, how you can get there, what you will see” theme.
These adorable animal prints from Etsy seller tmlCREATIONS fit the bill. There are so many to choose from that it wasn’t easy to decide which ones to use on my “Creatures of the Continents” gallery wall over Junior’s dresser. Eight 8×10″ prints in inexpensive Ikea Ribba frames will look cute, fit the theme, and help teach him about animals.
I haven’t made any purchases yet, but they’re on my wish list!
Panda for Asia:
Exotic bird for South America:
Kangaroos for Australia:
Penguin for Antarctica:
Polar bear for North America:
Elephant for Africa (I think this is my favorite):
Frog for Europe:
Ok, frogs don’t actually scream “Europe” to me, but I can’t think of another animal, bird, or reptile that does. Hey, frogs are everywhere, right?
And finally to round out a set of eight prints, we have the whale, who can swim to all of the continents:
Even if you’re not expecting, these prints would make great baby shower or birthday gifts for the little ones in your life.
P.S. Today’s the last day to enter this week’s jewelry giveaway! The contest closes at 5pm EST.

These are SO cute!!!
I love the elephant, penguin, and frog.
These are the cutest thing! I’m forwarding your post and the link to a pregnant friend. I think these will be PERFECT in the nursery. Great find!
Cute, cute, cute! I think these are great choices, and when he gets older, you can always reuse the frames for something else entirely!
Again I must say that I think they are super cute!!! Actually I really like a lot of stuff on her etsy site and might have to buy some for myself. Wait til you see what I have picked out for your shower gift, ooohh it makes me so excited just thinking about it!!!
Any of the ones with sharp contrasting colors would be great. Little ones really enjoy black and white although I would imagine the blue and white polar bear would serve the same purpose. We have a great book for D that is just black and white images and while I find it super boring, she can stare at it for quite a while.
Sorry hubby and dad, I have to agree with the lady here- and NOT because she is a lady either haha. I think her designs were super cute and plenty baby enough. The baby wont be a baby for long and her designs were perfect for baby, toddler or a young chap
Did I just say chap?
Absolutely precious. The elephant is my fave!
Awww, so adorable. Are you a fan of “The Office”? Did you see Jim and Pam’s birth episode last night? It was so sweet!
Karen, I did, and it terrified me a little – although Mr. JC and I were both either laughing hysterically or cringing the whole time!
