A New Doorway For A High-Heeled Foot

Today’s guest poster really needs no introduction, because I’m sure that you all know the lovely Camila from High-Heeled Foot in the Door. She’s a dumpster-diver extraordinaire, literally taking the trash left out by someone else and turning it into pretty treasures for herself and her very lucky clients – because oh yes, she’s also a super-talented designer who doesn’t shy away from color or budgets of all sizes. This summer, she’s working on a new doorway for her high-heeled foot. Check out the progress she’s made so far.

Hello Everyone!

It’s Camila from High-Heeled Foot in the Door and I’m very happy to be guest hosting while Laura is enjoying some quality time with Junior!
A couple of weeks ago me and Jon went away for the weekend and I took that opportunity to surprise Jon and have one of our projects tackled by others while we were gone.
When we left the house looked like this:

Cute house, but those bushes were driving us crazy! So when we returned it looked like this:

Nice, right! It’s open and now we have some great sunshine pouring in the front windows and oh yay we actually have steps and a railing.

Well the project is still not finished, because the steps and railing will be coming down and in it’s place we’ll be putting a small front patio that will go the entire length of the front of the house and extend a little bit past the existing steps.

Now we just need to get to building it. Don’t fret my pets, because Jon already came up with a plan for the wood patio and I already have plans for the design of it all.

Design Plan:

We will painting the front door a nice blue color similar to what Mr. Miles Redd has on his front door. Then the wood patio will be painted a gray shade and will we try our hand at DIYing some fretwork railings that will painted white to give us more of porch feel. A new lighting fixture is in order and this piece from overstock fits the bill in style and price! Red is never my go to color, but for this project I was lusting after it. So a fun pop of red in this outdoor set from Kmart needed to bought into the plan. Plus side of doing this at the end of summer is that it’s now on super sale, but major downside is that it’s been a pain to actually find a store that still carries it. I did find one though so I’m picking it up tomorrow! Of course I can’t leave good enough alone so I’ll be having the seats recovered in a chic striped outdoor fabric.

I can’t wait to see it all finished and have a nice plan to sit and watch the world go by come Fall.

A big thanks to Laura for having me over. :)

Love Camilla’s enthusiasm and design aesthetic. this will be darling on her home. I especially looooove the black and white striped fabric. I used the same fab on a curtain for my front porch and a cute black Greek key foot stool. Can not wait to see it all done. Kathysue
