Well friends, I succumbed to the lure of TJ Maxx last weekend. Between a Friday lunch trip with a colleague and a precious all-by-myself excursion on Saturday, I left with quite a stash: tights, socks, a $30 two-piece Osh Kosh snowsuit for Junior, a black lace Laundry by Shelli Segal skirt for only $40, jeggings for $17, a Cynthia Rowley tunic sweater, and the pièce de résistance – tall, brown Kate Spade boots. I won’t tell you how much I spent on those just yet because I’m still recovering.
Yes, cheap things become expensive when you power shop like I occasionally do. One of the many ways I can justify these purchases to myself, husband, and mother is that we have two (TWO!) date nights coming up. We haven’t had a date since Mr. JC’s birthday in August!
Now it’s time to work with what I’ve got. One option involves the Old Navy emerald green blouse that I posted about recently. Well, I bought it, have the same tights as below from this weekend’s splurge, and a similar gold clutch from yet another TJ Maxx trip a few weeks ago. The black lace skirt below looks identical to the one I bought, and is the same price, while I scored the satin leopard peep-toes at a Nordstrom sale last month. They’re no longer available, but Nordstrom has a pair of Enzo Angiolini leopard print heels that are a great alternative.
I may opt for plain tights instead of fish nets – they may make my lower half look too busy. It’ll be a game-time decision. Now we the hubs and I need to figure out how we’ll spend our free nights!
