It’s been a little while since I showed you how art can be interpreted into an outfit, but when I found this beautiful abstract painting by Yolanda Sanchez, I couldn’t resist! Although the mix of purples and yellows is typically a spring color combo (like my purple and yellow crocus inspired fashion and decor finds), it can work beautifully for winter, too.

There are many ways that you can work a sweater dress, but I envisioned this as a business lunch look. The mustard-yellow feminine coat will definitely bring sunshine to an overcast winter day.
If the coat is a bit too yellow for you, go for a seriously ladylike pair of heels like the Laurel Heel from Anthropologie:
What do you think of this color combination for winter? Would you ever wear a bright yellow coat? It would be a stretch for me, but I can definitely wrap my fashion mind around those heels!

I love the color combo. Full disclosure: If you wear purple and yellow in this part of the country, everyone will assume that it’s a statement of your love for LSU football! Though, I live in an “LSU house,” so that would be fine w/ the Mister!
Pretty color combo. Love the earrings- I’ve had my eye on a pair…there are so many colors. I cannot decide!
The painting is beautiful, and so is the inspired outfit. I love these colors together, and I REALLY love that sweater dress!
I love this color combo! I actually already have a yellow trench coat that I got last year from Ann Taylor Loft. It’s awesome and I get SO many compliments on it when I wear it. It was priced at $150, but I snagged it for only $48 on sale! The other day I bought a pair of yellow heels from Aldo Shoes and they’re super cute. I can’t wait to wear them!
Yay! You’re stylin’! Gotta love a good deal.
I’m loving mustard yellow a lot more lately. . . I just used it in some throw pillows for a client. It really is a color that has grown on me! That is a gorgeous painting and of course love the outfit!
