Fall is the season when so many of us drag our loved ones in front of the camera for family photos that will be plastered all over holiday cards that will end up in mailboxes around the world. So there’s a lot of pressure to look good. You don’t want to end up on that Awkward Family Photos site, right?
This year I managed to cajole my husband into sitting through a “baby’s’ first year” photo package with a wonderful photographer (Bella Wang, if you’re local to Boston) and we have our final session next weekend to commemorate Lil C’s first birthday. Those photos will end up on our holiday card, and I agonized over our family photo outfits and eventually came up with a red color scheme.
We’re a bunch of pale Irish folks so it’s important to have color near our faces so we don’t look pasty. I’ll likely wear my GAP blouse with skinny jeans and tall brown boots, and possibly a nice wide belt. The Mr. will wear khakis to prevent an all-jeans look for the family.
Do you take family photos each year? If so, does your husband hate them as much as mine does? This time I’m going to bring a few props to (hopefully) hold my kiddos’ attention and put off the meltdowns that happened at the last photo shoot. If my tactics work, I’ll definitely share them with you!
